This is UNIT 7 in our LEVEL 1 online ESL curriculum, designed for use with young, beginner-level students who have basic but limited knowledge of English. The unit introduces the following:
- Vocabulary: Pets (dog/puppy, cat/kitten, bird/chick, fish, turtle, snake, hamster / bed, bowl, collar, leash)
- Sentence Patterns: This dog is friendly. / That dog is unfriendly. / What do you see? / I see a puppy!
- Phonics: “Short a” vs. “Short e” vs. “Short i”
- Colors Review: Green, Blue, Purple
- Numbers: 15, 16 (fifteen, sixteen)
- Shapes Review
There are ten 25-minute lessons in this unit that introduce the target vocabulary and reinforce it through short stories and fun interactive activities. There is also a short homework assignment at the end of each lesson to reinforce the concepts taught.
